ANZ donation to help fight measles in Samoa

ANZ today announced it would donate WST$100,000 (NZD$56,000) to the National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) to help the fight against measles in Samoa.

ANZ Regional Executive Pacific, Tessa Price, said: “The incredible efforts of the NEOC have been recognised globally, however there is still more that needs to be done.

“The Pacific Islands are closely connected and we have to work together to stop the spread of measles. We already have other communities impacted from South Auckland, to Tonga, to Fiji and American Samoa. It has been a tough time for many people.

“In particular, it’s important to follow the advice of local authorities around immunisation, handwashing and using face masks.”

Acting CEO, ANZ New Zealand and Pacific, Antonia Watson said: “The health and wellbeing of our staff and customers are our biggest priorities and we’ll continue to monitor the situation very carefully, connecting with local authorities.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone in Samoa during this difficult time.”
