On Monday 18 July, ANZ announced an agreement to acquire Suncorp Bank from Suncorp Group Limited, accelerating the growth of its retail and commercial businesses while also improving the geographic balance of its business in Australia.
The announcement was the culmination of months of hard work across a variety of departments including mergers and acquisitions, legal, finance, retail and commercial banking, and many others.
To fully explain the announcement, ANZ CEO Shayne Elliott spent the day talking to a wide variety of stakeholders – from the investor community, government and regulators, the media, and Suncorp and ANZ staff.
